But what do I wear?

Are you planning a session with me and wondering what to wear? Well, look no further! I have 6 tips to help you choose the perfect outfits for your upcoming session.

  1. Neutral Colors & Pastels

Neutral colors and pastels are a great choice because they don't distract from the main focus of the photo: you! They also tend to be more flattering on most skin tones. Opt for colors like beige, cream, white, black, gray, pale pink, or light blue. Avoid bright colors or anything too flashy that may take away from the overall aesthetic of the photo. If you're planning a couples shoot, coordinating your outfits can make a big difference in the overall aesthetic of the photos. You can find inspiration on Pinterest and choose similar shades and colors to match each other. When in doubt, wearing all black or all white/cream is always a classic option.

2. Solid Colors, Avoid Busy Prints

When it comes to patterns, solid colors are always a safe choice. They won't clash with the background or other people in the photo. Avoid busy prints, such as stripes or polka dots, which can be distracting and take away from the main subject of the picture.

3. Contrast with the Location

Consider the location of your photoshoot when choosing your outfit. If you're taking photos in a lush green park, wearing a green outfit may cause you to blend in too much with the background. Instead, choose colors that will contrast nicely with the scenery. For example, if you're taking photos in a colorful cityscape, consider wearing a solid black or white outfit to stand out.

4. Avoid Logos

Logos or branding on your clothing can be a distraction in photos. Avoid clothing with large logos or text, as they can take away from the photo's focus. Instead, choose simple, clean designs that won't distract from the overall aesthetic of the photo.

5. Bring Options!

Bring several outfit options to your photoshoot. If your photoshoot is at least an hour long, bring two outfit options. This gives you the flexibility to switch things up and have a more dressy and casual option. It's a great way to break up the session and give you more content to print and post. It also allows you to experiment with different looks and styles to find what works best for you.

6. Ironing or Steaming!

Remember to always iron or steam your clothes before a shoot to ensure a faster turnaround time on photos. If you don't have a steamer or iron, hang your outfit in the bathroom while you take a hot shower to get steamed.

In summary, choosing the right outfit for your photoshoot can make a big difference in the final result. Opt for neutral colors and pastels, solid colors, and avoid busy prints. Consider the location and contrast your outfit accordingly. Avoid logos or branding, and bring multiple outfit options to give yourself flexibility. With these tips in mind, you'll be sure to look your best in all your photos.

Lastly, never hesitate to send me a photo of outfit options. I'm always thrilled to give my opinion on which outfits would best flatter my editing and shooting style at the location we are shooting at.

With these tips in mind, you'll be sure to rock your photoshoot with style and confidence!
